The brand the world's finest resorts built their reputation on
For seven decades, Tropitone has set the performance standard for commercial outdoor furniture — engineered for the toughest hospitality environments, still made in America on two coasts.
The company that brought commercial-grade outdoor furniture home
In 1954, retired Lockheed aircraft engineer Burt M. Baker bought a small redwood furniture company in Sarasota and founded Tropitone to serve the contract market — hotels, motels, clubs, and resorts. Travelers kept asking where they could buy the furniture they'd enjoyed on vacation, and Tropitone changed an entire industry by bringing the rigorous demands of the commercial world to the home.

Why a Tropitone piece outlives the season
Tropitone was the first to bring high-tech powder coating to outdoor furniture — a finish bonded to the metal and roughly three times thicker than paint. Frames are heliarc-welded tubular aluminum; vinyl straps run noticeably thicker than the industry norm to resist mildew and fading. It's furniture built to shrug off sun and storm, season after season.

Powder-Coat Finish
Tropitone introduced powder coating to the outdoor industry. Bonded to the aluminum and about three times thicker than paint, it holds color and form through sun, rain, and freeze.
Double-Wrapped Straps
Tropitone pioneered double-wrapping vinyl straps around the frame for extra durability — using vinyl thicker than competitors' to resist mildew and fading.
Aircraft-Quality Welds
Tubular aluminum frames are joined with aircraft-grade heliarc welding, then finished with stainless-steel hardware and high-density glides built for constant use.
The furniture chosen by destinations that can't afford to replace it
Fine hoteliers and top commercial designers have made Tropitone the premier choice in casual commercial seating. A few of the properties that have specified Tropitone on location:
